As standard equipment, the Activ has adaptive cruise control, a cargo privacy cover, heated seats and steering wheel, single-zone controlled temperature control, satellite radio, heated mirrors, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless connectivity, and roof rails. Even though it’s priced similarly, the 2RS stands out with its manual driver’s seat and 19-inch wheels, even though all other features are identical. Because of its unique motorized seat and the fact that smaller wheels usually provide a smoother ride and are cheaper for winter or replacement tires, I would choose the Activ.

The new Trax is vastly superior to its predecessor in every way: length, width, and height. While the amount of headroom for the front seats is unchanged, the amount for the back seats is reduced by 19 millimeters (0.7 inches). With the rear seats folded down, there is 1,532 liters of space—an increase from 1,371 liters before—and the low liftover makes loading things inside a breeze. Engine and Performance
A six-speed automatic transmission couples with a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine standard across all Trax trim levels. There is a potential for 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque from this engine. When paired with a tiny engine, these units can make a droning noise and have a rubbery feel, making them preferable to the other option—an automated continuously variable gearbox (CVT).
The engine’s surprising nimbleness in the city and effective acceleration from stoplights belie its modest size. Highway passing is where it really shines; you really shouldn’t expect to be able to drive out in front of fast-approaching automobilesand go away unscathed. In city driving, the 2026 Chevrolet Trax achieves 8.3 L/100 km, while on highways it drops to 7.4 L/100 km and in mixed-use it drops to 7.9 L/100 km, as reported by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). I averaged 8.2 gallons per hundred kilometers throughout the week that I had it. Regular gasoline is used to power it. At 7.2 liters per hundred kilometers, the Nissan Kicks has the lowest fuel consumption, while the Kia Soul comes in at 7.8 liters per hundred kilometers, which is the closest to the Trax. At $22,574 and $23,728 respectively, it is priced above its front-wheel drive (FWD) rivals, the Hyundai Venue and the Nissan Kicks. In contrast, the base price of a Kia Soul is around $24,795 and that of a Kia Seltos is around $27,195. Before taxes and fees, you can get a Hyundai Kona for $27,934 or a Toyota Corolla Cross for $28,220.
My first impression of the 2026 Chevrolet Trax, after a week behind the wheel, remains unchanged: it is a class-leading marvel. Not only is it reasonably priced, but it is also aesthetically pleasing, spacious, great at managing freight, and an absolute joy to drive.
