2026 Chevy Equinox Redesign and Update Plan
There aren’t any big updates to the Equinox for 2026, however an electric version is on the way. Two additional metallic paint colors, Riptide Blue and Lakeshore Blue, are available for the gas-powered vehicle. The Driver Confidence II option, which is available on the lowest LS model for just $395, has also been revised by Chevy to include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning. Exterior & Interior
There is just one engine option for the Equinox, and it’s a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder that is underpowered and gassy. No one will be impressed. Although front-wheel drive is standard, the optional all-wheel drive system adds weight and reduces the engine’s 175 horsepower, making it difficult to accelerate the Equinox to highway speeds. We timed the acceleration to 60 mph in 8.0 seconds in the most current Equinox we tested, an RS model with all-wheel drive. Its handling is precise and straight, and the Equinox drives well; it’s pleasant and simple to use. Even on the regular 17-inch wheels, the optional 19-inch wheels may make the ride bumpy, and the interior can pick up some road noise from tougher sections. These dimensions are characteristic of this class. With the back seat folded down, buyers receive 29.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity, and with it folded forward, they get 63.9 cubic feet. Engine options for the gas-powered 2026 Chevy Equinox include a 1.5-liter turbocharged I-4 producing 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque, linked to a six-speed automatic transmission.
